So the first 10 seconds of the Freakout Games animation are the the post demanding of the entire project. It's the only part of the animation that depends completely on the actions of the characters, so the frame-by-frame action needs to be spot on. These are the first few seconds of animation in the video. I spent a lot of time learning the fundamentals of setting up a scene for frame-by-frame character animations (Jazza's Youtube Tutorials were very helpful, thanks Jazza!). CloudKid Studios (a Boston based animation studio) as a wonderful Animate CC plugin called Keyframe Caddy, and I highly reccomend for anyone looking to use Animate CC to manage keyframes in their frame-by-frame animations. I helped me create a pretty smooth workflow for the animation.
Overall, I think it's coming along well, but the next few seconds will be introducing the other main character of the video, the Game Master. He's a more ethereal, character, and will therefore be much more effects-driven in his movement. I have started doing some freelance work for an Indian company called Freakout Games! I will be posting project updates here as I continue my work with them. My first project is an introduction "pitch" type video for their website. The animation is meant to outline the objectives and methods of the company as an interactive gaming and educational tool for children. So far I just have a storyboard started: Freakout Games wants to help children and players of all ages connect with the world around them using video games. They will be creating games that help to solve real-world issues and develop stories and characters that engage kids (and adults) with complex global topics. I'm pretty excited to get started on this and expect more updates to come in the future.
